Rashid khan in TEDxTalks
In this thought-provoking talk titled “Mitigating Disaster Risk by Diversity and Inclusion,” I delved into the crucial connection between diversity, inclusion, and disaster resilience. Drawing upon my extensive experience and insights, I shed light on how embracing diverse perspectives and inclusive practices can significantly enhance our ability to mitigate and respond to disasters effectively.
What makes this talk even more relevant is that it took place during NAIDOC Week, a significant celebration of the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. By acknowledging this important event, I aimed to emphasize the vital role diversity and inclusion play in disaster risk management, particularly within Indigenous communities.
Throughout my talk, I emphasized the urgent need for us to embrace a range of perspectives, cultures, and experiences in order to identify vulnerabilities, develop inclusive strategies, and build resilient communities that can withstand and recover from disasters more effectively. I am truly passionate about creating a safer and more resilient world.
I invite you all to watch my TEDx talk and join the conversation around mitigating disaster risk through diversity and inclusion. Let’s celebrate the power of diverse voices in shaping a safer and more inclusive future for all.
